In-home Euthanasia
Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the most difficult decisions a family can face. Dr. Julia provides compassionate in-home euthanasia services so your pet can remain in the comfort and familiarity of home, surrounded by the people who love them most. Dr. Julia’s goal is to provide a peaceful, gentle, and unhurried experience for both pets and their families.
How do I know it’s time: If you believe your pet may be nearing the end of life, or if you would like to discuss whether in-home euthanasia may be appropriate, please reach out through the contact form. Dr. Julia is honored to help families navigate this difficult time with compassion, dignity, and personalized care. Please visit our resource section for quality of life scales, additional resources, and grief support.
Why families choose in-home euthanasia:
Less stress and anxiety compared to traveling to a clinic
Privacy and comfort for your family
Time to say goodbye without feeling rushed
The ability for other pets and family members to be present if desired
Every family and every pet is different, and Dr. Julia strives to provide individualized care with compassion and dignity.
Preparing for the appointment: Your pet can have all of their normal medications, meals, treats, etc as they normally would. Dr. Julia will send paperwork and detailed information prior to the appointment and answer any questions.
What to Expect: When Dr. Julia arrives she will take time to discuss the process, answer questions, and ensure your family feels comfortable before proceeding. The process is very calm and gentle, and families are welcome to spend as much time with their pet as needed before and afterward.
Aftercare Options: Families may choose private cremation, communal cremation, or you may keep your pet for aftercare services of your choosing (home burial, transport directly to a crematorium yourself). If aftercare services are selected, Dr. Julia will gently transport your pet afterward. For larger pets, assistance from family members will be needed.
Scheduling and Service Area: Dr. Julia provides in-home pet euthanasia throughout Northern Virginia, including Warrenton, Culpeper, Fauquier County, and surrounding areas, as well as parts of Washington, DC. Appointments are scheduled in advance whenever possible. Please understand that availability may occasionally be limited due to the nature of mobile veterinary care.
Please note: Dr. Julia provides all care personally as a solo mobile veterinarian without an assistant. In some cases where a pet may be highly protective, fearful, or difficult to handle with unfamiliar people, she may recommend another veterinary service with additional staff support to ensure the safest and least stressful experience for everyone involved.
Because Dr. Julia works independently, she is deeply committed to honoring every scheduled appointment. In the rare event of an unexpected illness or emergency, however, rescheduling may be necessary. If this occurs, she will provide guidance and referrals to trusted local providers whenever possible.
