Julia Nagel, DVM, CVA, cAVCA
I grew up in Virginia’s horse country horseback riding and having a house full of pets. After receiving my undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech I attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2009. I then completed one year internship in emergency and speciality medicine at The Hope Center in Vienna, Virginia. Since then I have practiced small animal general medicine in Northern VA and DC.
During this time I became exposed to chiropractic care for myself and the results were truly life changing. After practicing general medicine for 10 years I was ready for something new and animal chiropractic seemed like the perfect and exciting choice. In 2019 I graduated from an AVCA (American Veterinary Chiropractic Association) Certified Chiropractic program through ACES (Animal Chiropractic Education Source). I then obtained my certification in Animal Chiropractic (cAVCA) through the AVCA (American Veterinary Chiropractic Association). This program opened my eyes to the awesome potential that chiropractic and alternative therapies can have for animals.
The dramatic benefits animal chiropractic treatments had for my patients sparked my interest in other holistic therapies. This led me attend the renowned Chi University of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). In 2020 I graduated from their acupuncture and TCVM program and obtained my certification in Veterinary Acupuncture (CVA).
Having obtained certifications in both Veterinary Acupuncture & Animal Chiropractic, I am uniquely qualified to offer a variety of treatment options for your pet. I am one of the only veterinarians in the DC Metro area certified in both.
I’m also extremely interested in nutrition, and how diet plays such an important role in optimizing our pets’ lives. I’m currently taking a course to obtain my certificate in Veterinary Natural Nutrition (CVNN) through the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies. I will be offering nutrition consults in the near future.
I am very excited about the benefits holistic care can offer our animals and am happy to offer this service in the area. My ultimate goal is to help your pet stay, or get back to wellness. Click here to learn more.
